My favorite words are Purr Words. Purr Words are wonderful! Sometimes I don’t proceed any further than that first syllable. Purr…rrr…rrrrr…
… rrrrrrr … rrrrrrrrr …
I could purr for hours. Sometimes I do!
Powerful thoughts begin with a purr, and words follow thoughts, and actions follow words. Therefore, Purr Words are among the most important words you can hold in your mind!
One of the most inspiring Purr Words for both felines and humans is Purpose.
Your purpose is the reason for which you exist.
You were created for a reason. For a purpose. How exciting! Doesn’t that make you want to purr, too?
Some of you already live out your purpose. Some of you peer around corners, swat under sofas, and claw at closed doors in search of a purpose that is so elusive as to make you wonder if it even exists. Rest assured that it does. Some purposes take a while to recognize, while others blossom gradually over a period of time.
What is your favorite pastime? When enjoying a hobby feels like absolute bliss, that hobby might just be your calling – your purpose!
What are your talents or skills? Whether you were born with natural talents that bring joy to you and those around you, or you developed skills through education and experience that are making your world a better place, these abilities signify your purpose.
Do other people frequently compliment specific character traits in you? Do they praise your organizational skills, your ability to solve problems, your automatic rapport with animals? Do they admire your sewing skills, your singing voice, your affinity for always choosing just the right holiday gift? Those compliments are arrows pointing out your purpose.
Has another person ever asked you to teach him or her how to do something at which you excel? Have others ever asked you to do something for them that they don’t know how to do? Have people ever offered to buy your baked goods or your artwork, when it had not previously occurred to you to make those items to sell? Your purpose might have discovered you!
Perhaps because honoring our purpose is so critical to becoming all we were created to be, daily obstacles litter our paths. Carrying out our purpose – or discovering it in the first place – can be hindered by many incidents and distractions, including common, everyday situations.
Life is going great!!! What better position in which to find yourself? Plenty of beds and boxes, sisal posts, and cat trees; regular meals, toys, treats, laps and furniture and people-sized beds; lots of love and affection and even someone to brush your fur! Life couldn’t be more purrfect, and you don’t have to worry about a thing. That is a goal for which everyone strives, but there are downsides to a trouble-free life, and one of them is Complacency. All those assets – money, time, the absence of stress – can be wasted, or they can be the fuel that accelerates your purpose into a greater blessing than you ever dreamed possible.
Life is falling apart!!! We all go through seasons that we would rather never see. Death, disability, divorce, job loss, financial struggles, health issues, countless devastations and disappointments that change our lives permanently, are not selective. They affect us all. When everything hurts, it seems impossible that any light could shine into our darkness. But it does. Emmanuel, God with us, is still there, holding us and sharing our pain. His purpose for which He created us is not lessened when we are at the lowest points in our lives. Miraculously, it is sometimes that soil in which the seeds of our purpose take root and grow. Branches extend to nourish others who are also hurting. Our talents, skills, abilities, and strengths take on a whole new focus. We will never be the same. But our purpose remains.
Life is too busy!!! You really should be a cat watching humans run frantically from one activity to the next, convinced they are doing the right thing, the necessary thing, the unavoidable thing for themselves, their children, their bank accounts. Where did they get the idea that they must enslave themselves to so many incompetent little gods in order to be good and successful people? Do they honestly believe they were placed on this earth to struggle under all that stress?
Cats appear to behave in the opposite manner. We sleep a lot, play a lot, groom a lot, eat when we’re hungry, snuggle when we desire to give and receive love. We are cats. That’s what we do. But we know our purpose. We are companions, healers, therapists, playmates, confidantes, and comedians. We are your best friends. Our purpose is to make your life better, and as long as you meet our needs and understand our personalities and share precious time with us, that is exactly what we will do.
You were created to fulfill an extra-ordinary purpose in your extra-ordinary world. Through prayer, persistence (another Purr Word!), and faith, you will!
