The New Year arrived with new toys for the Townsend Cats! We enjoy our gifts so much that we want to tell our feline and human friends about them so you can enjoy them, too! Following is my review of three new experiences and two long-time favorites. Grass Patch Hunting Box by Petstages<\/span>

One of our very favorite new toys is the Grass Patch Hunting Box by Petstages. You can purchase it online, but Dad found ours at the local Feeder\u2019s Supply pet store. This box has a layer of fake grass on top and openings cut out of the top and sides. Three small jingle balls lurk inside, the purrfect prey to hunt, swat, pounce on, pursue, and retrieve! The box is sturdy enough for cats to stand, walk, or lie on, and it encourages high-energy play, as Sierra and Josie demonstrate in the video. Mom and Dad recommend the Grass Patch Hunting Box for supervised play time for two reasons:\u00a0 bringing it out a couple of times a week keeps the challenge fresh and new; and we cats will, sooner or later, hook our claws into those jingle balls and retrieve them from the box, chase them across the floor, and bat them under the furniture. While other small toys will fit into the box, there\u2019s just something about those jingle balls that brings out the kitten in us all. Supervising our play allows our humans to catch them and toss them back into the box for continued play!<\/span><\/p>\n
